Bill's Drive-In is one of Monroe's longest-running restaurants and a true local landmark. Established in 1942, it has proudly served the community for more than 80 years, remaining a classic roadside drive-in while preserving the nostalgic charm generations have come to love.
Here’s a look at our history:
1942 – Founded: Bill's Drive-In opened on Monroe Turnpike (Route 111), serving burgers, hot dogs, fries, breakfast, and milkshakes to travelers and local families. It quickly became a favorite gathering place for the Monroe community.
Originally Ligouri's Drive-In: Before becoming Bill's, the restaurant was known as Ligouri's Drive-In. The Monroe Historical Society recalls it by that name, along with the iconic milk vending machines that stood on the property during the 1960s and 1970s.
The Boyko Era: For many years, Bill's was owned by William Boyko, who became synonymous with the restaurant. Known for his warm hospitality, he created a welcoming neighborhood spot where everyone—from construction workers to local business owners—felt at home. Following his passing in 2019, the community shared countless memories celebrating both Bill and the restaurant's lasting impact.
New Ownership
A Tradition Continues
The restaurant later came under the ownership of the Yiannoulis family, who honored its classic drive-in atmosphere while expanding the menu to include Greek specialties and all-day breakfast. Today, a new local family is proud to continue that legacy, preserving the traditions that have made Bill's a Monroe favorite while carrying the restaurant into its next chapter.
